Firm ground (FG) surfaces are the most common type of natural ground playing fields. Usually with shorter grass and dry soil leaving a firm feel under your feet. This type of surface doesn't allow much give for longer studs and are perfectly suited to the shorter, moulded studs or blades (a different shape built for the same purpose) found on firm ground boots.

These studs are usually made out of a hard plastic, acrylic or rubber and are built straight into the sole of the boot, designed specifically for traction on harder surfaces and are not interchangeable.
